Plugin Pilot updates

Plain-English release notes, what's improved, what's faster, what's safer. The bits that matter to running your sites.

Previous releases

  1. v0.1.5

    25 May 2026

One-click jump to your Plugin Pilot account: every plugin page now has an "Open in app" button that takes you straight to your dashboard, your site detail, or your billing — no password retype.

    What's new

    • "Open in app" everywhere it makes sense. A new button at the top of every Plugin Pilot screen jumps you straight into your portal account — to the multi-site dashboard from Activity and Settings, and to this site's detail page from the Updates view.
    • "Manage subscription" now actually opens billing. The Pro hero's Manage subscription link used to bounce you back to the plugin's own Settings page; it now opens your Stripe billing portal directly so you can update your card or download invoices in one click.
    • WordPress dashboard widget + admin bar shortcuts. The Plugin Pilot widget on your WordPress home dashboard gains an Open in app button. The top admin bar gets Open this site in app and Multi-site dashboard sub-links so you can reach the portal from any screen in WordPress, not just the Plugin Pilot pages.
    • "Upgrade in app" for free-tier sites. Already connected on the free plan? The plan card's Connect Pro button now mints a hand-off and lands you on the upgrade picker with a session — no logging in again.
    • Clickable portal login link on Settings. The "Don't have a Connect Code?" and "we don't recognise this code" panels now include a direct Log in to portal button so existing customers can recover their code without hunting for the URL.

All of these use the same single-use, 5-minute hand-off token under the hood, so you only ever sign in to the portal once.

If you're an unconnected free install, nothing changes — the new buttons only appear once a Connect Code has been pasted.

  2. v0.1.4

    24 May 2026

One-click upgrade: clicking "Upgrade to Pro" inside WordPress now takes you straight to checkout, no portal login screen in the middle.

    What's new

    • Every "Upgrade" button inside the WordPress admin now uses a one-click flow: click, and you land directly on Stripe's secure payment page. No portal login, no password retype.
    • If you don't have a portal account yet, one is created automatically using your WordPress admin email — no extra signup step.
    • If the upgrade link is older than 5 minutes or has already been used, we send you to the portal sign-in page so you can finish manually.
  3. v0.1.3

    23 May 2026

Cleaner setup: paste your Connect Code and you're done. No more typing in URLs or ticking sync boxes.

    What's new

    • The plugin now talks to Plugin Pilot out of the box — no "App URL" to fill in or sync checkbox to tick. Most users will only ever touch the Connect Code field.
    • Advanced settings (sync toggle, custom app URL for self-hosted setups) are tucked into a collapsible "Advanced" section so they don't clutter the page.
    • If your Connect Code stops working because the account was deleted or the code was rotated, the Settings page now shows a clear "Sign up free →" recovery button instead of silently looking like nothing's wrong.

Self-hosted operators: you can still point the plugin at your own control plane via the Advanced section, or via a PLUGINPILOT_APP_URL constant in your wp-config.php.

  4. v0.1.2

    23 May 2026

Reliability fix: the plugin now correctly shows "Not connected" if your account or Connect Code is no longer valid, instead of remembering the last plan it saw.

    What's new

    • If Plugin Pilot can't recognise your site (rotated Connect Code, deleted account, or never connected), the dashboard now reads "Not connected" with a clear recovery message — no more stale plan tiers hanging around.
    • Network blips no longer cause a downgrade: if the Plugin Pilot service is briefly unreachable, the plugin keeps showing your real plan until it can check again.

If you're a fresh install, nothing changes — this is a behind-the-scenes correctness fix.

  5. v0.1.1

    23 May 2026

Faster onboarding: install the plugin first and a new "Sign up free" button takes you straight to creating your account.

    What's new

    • Install-first onboarding: a clear "Don't have a Connect Code? Sign up free" button on the plugin Settings page when no code is set.
    • The signup link carries your site URL through, so after you sign up the welcome screen tells you exactly where to paste the Connect Code.
    • Email confirmation: your Connect Code is now also emailed to you, so you can't lose it.

If you're an existing customer, nothing changes — your Connect Code still works exactly as before.

  6. v0.1.0

    23 May 2026

First public preview of Plugin Pilot. Connect your WordPress sites, get an AI-graded view of every plugin you run, and start safer updates.

    What you get in v0.1.0

    • One-click connect: paste a Connect Code from the customer portal and your site joins your fleet.
    • Plugin inventory: every plugin, with versions and update status, refreshed automatically.
    • AI-graded risk: severity, blast-radius and a plain-English summary on each scan run.
    • Safe update path: zip preflight, audit-logged update history, and rollback breadcrumbs.
    • Lightweight: no business logic on your WordPress sites — the heavy lifting happens in the Plugin Pilot control plane.

This is an early build — your feedback shapes what ships next. Tell us what hurts.
